Lane Construction has been awarded a US$299 million design and build package to extend the Seminole Expressway/SR 417 State Road in Seminole County, Florida. Lane Construction is the US subsidiary of the Italian engineering group Webuild.

The project is being commissioned by Florida's Turnpike Enterprise. The Work will see widening of 10km of the Seminole Expressway/SR 417 from two lanes in either direction to four lanes in either direction. The work will be carried out between the Orange County and just north of SR 434. Construction is due to commence around the third quarter of 2024 and should be finished by the second quarter of 2029.

According to Lane Construction, the Seminole Expressway/SR 417 provides a key hurricane evacuation route. The expressway is also a key section of Orlando’s eastern beltway. The route is an alternative to Interstate 4 and boosting capacity will help to reduce congestion and journey times for drivers.
