A challenging South Korean road tunnel project is being proposed.
A challenging road tunnel contract is being proposed for South Korea. The plan calls for a 5.76km undersea tunnel that will connect Seomyeon and Shindeok-dong.
The work is expected to cost US$525 million and will be carried out by the firm DL E&C. Called the Namhae-Yeosu Undersea Tunnel, the work is likely to take until 2031.
The project will require the use of sophisticated BIM technology to ensure delivery on time. The project also includes the construction of an undersea connection road towards Namhae's northern region.
The new route will total 8.1km in length and reduce travel time from 90 minutes at present to just 10 minutes.
The firm was previously involved in the project for the 1915 Canakkale Bridge in Turkey.
