Work is progressing on track with the new Danube Bridge 2, which will
connect Bulgaria and Romania. Around 60% of the work has now been
completed, along with some 50% of the connecting roads and other
necessary infrastructure improvements. The new bridge will run from
Vidin in Bulgaria to Calafat in Romania and it is due for completion by
the end of 2011. The bridge will provide a combined road and rail link
and the connections to the Romanian and Bulgarian networks will be
finished after the bridge itself has been completed.
