Major road works are planned in Western Australia and Queensland.
A new road project will improve transport in Western Australia (WA). Construction works worth US$858 million (A$1.25 billion) will be carried out to build a ring road around Bunbury, located to the south of Perth.
Approval for the work has been given by the Department of Environment of Australia, which was necessary due to environmental issues over wildlife habitats.
Meanwhile, the Bruce Highway in Queensland on the other side of Australia will benefit from a $72 million (A$105 million) upgrade with the addition of sophisticated traffic control technology. A 60km stretch of the route connecting Pine River and Caloundra Road will have new sensor systems, signalling and variable message signs installed. Real time traffic monitoring will help reduce congestion and boost safety for drivers.
