Tendering is opening for a new Paraguay-Brazil bridge.
The tender process is now opening for a new bridge linking Paraguay and Brazil. The bidding process is being managed by the Paraguayan Government. The bids will be revealed in late April 2021, with the tender being awarded later in the year.
Once complete, the bridge will span the Paraguay River, linking Carmelo Peralta in Paraguay with Puerto Murtinho in Brazil. The 1.3km bridge has an anticipated cost of US$79 million to construct. The new bridge will connect Route 267 in Brazil to Paraguay. However, the roads on the Paraguyan side will also have to be upgraded to carry the additional international traffic expected.
Construction of this new link is expected to boost trade and transport between the two countries. It will provide a much-needed economic boost to the region as a whole.
