Indonesia’s toll road expansion programme is continuing to grow. Bidding is commencing for three toll road projects; the 83.9km Serang-Panimbang route in Banten, the 58.6km Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) route in West Java, the 29.3km Legundi-Bunder route in East Java.

The 1065 Indonesian Government aims to accelerate the projects even though the land procurement has not been concluded yet. By 2019 the Indonesian Government expects to have 1,000 new toll roads. But during 2016 land procurement for toll projects is expected to be an obstacle as the Indonesian Government has reduced the state budget for land procurement to around US$101 million.

The Indonesian Government is currently deciding the location of the Serang-Panimbang project prior to the bidding process. The Legundi-Bunder and Cisumdawu projects also need some important documents before being opened for bidding. The land procurement process has recently started at the Sumedang section. The initial two sections of the Cisumdawu project will be constructed by the Indonesian Government.

For the whole 2016, about 136km of toll roads are expected to go online. Among the toll roads projected to be put into service include the Mojokerto-Kertosono toll road which stretches up to 40.5km in East Java and an 18km segment of the Surabaya-Mojekerto route.

Meanwhile, the government is also mulling to open bidding for the Jakarta Elevated and the Jakarta-Cikampek II projects as requested by state toll operating company Jasa Marga. As well, the transport ministry has permitted the bidding for the Jakarta-Cikampek project to proceed after the bidding for Legundi-Bunder project is done as requested by state construction company Waskita Karya.
