India’s road network continues to develop with a number of key projects being carried out.

Construction work is underway for the NH-88 project. Costing US$1.22 billion, the route will feature two lanes in either direction and will provide a new link between Shimla and Mataur. The project is being carried out in six sections under the supervision of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and should be complete by late 2024.

The $1.47 billion expressway linking Delhi with Dehradun should be ready by the end of 2023 and will measure 212km. Key features of the project include a 12km elevated stretch, two large bridges, 13 small bridges and two underpasses for elephants.

Meanwhile, around 6km of the 13km Zojila Tunnel route has been driven so far. The project is due for completion in late 2026. The new tunnel will link Ladakh with Kashmir. Construction is being carried out by Megha Engineering and Infrastructure (MEIL). The project will deliver a safer and faster route for drivers.
