Construction work for the new highway in New Zealand to improve transport between Peka Peka and Otaki is well underway. According to the project team, the work is now back on track.
The project calls for the construction of a highway featuring two lanes in either direction, as well as 9km of connecting roads and a 1.3km railway stretch.
However, the project has been hit by a number of delays and will not meet the original deadline of early 2021 that had been intended initially. The pricetag for the work also increased from the original US$212.5 million (NZ$330 million) to $260.8 million (NZ$405 million).
