A new road project will improve transport in Burkina Faso. The work is important as landlocked Burkina Faso relies heavily on its road network and the project is expected to help boost the country’s economy.

A substantial portion of the funding for the work is being provided by the Exim Bank of China, close to US$69 million. In all, the project to construct the 198km of the RN11 route is expected to cost close to $81 million. The new road will connect Banfora and Gaoua.

The project will take two years to complete and the construction work is being handled by the Chinese contractor China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
