A major bridge lift contract has been awarded in Georgia State.
Kiewit Infrastructure South will hand the contract to modify the Eugene Talmadge Memorial Bridge in the US state of Georgia. The contract was awarded by the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT). The bridge connects Georgia and South Carolina and spans the Savannah River, while raising it will allow passage for larger vessels.
The Port of Savannah is the fourth busiest cargo port in the US and allowing larger vessels to reach the facility will deliver and important increase in its capacity. The project is expected to cost US$189 million and the work is due to commence in early 2025.
