An important road contract for Angola has now been terminated. The Angolan Government cancelled the contract it had agreed previously with the Cuban construction company Imbondex. A subsidiary of GAESA, Imbondex lost the contract due to non-performance clauses being invoked as the Angolan Government was dissatisfied with progress on the works.

The package of works was for the construction of 283km of roads and as well as a number of small bridges in Dembos Province. In all the original contract was worth a total of US$300 million and the package of works is now being reopened for tender.
