MOBA Mobile Automation says it now offers excavator control systems for a range of requirements, with the introduction of its Easy Dig basic system, the LINK expansion stage and the high-end Vision 3D version.

The new Easy Dig package is said to provide an affordable and easy-to-install excavator control system that measures depth, incline angle and range. Target and actual values are compared and displayed in real-time on the screen. The LINK offers a combination of 2D and 3D functions and is the most inexpensive entry-level model for 3D excavator control.
The 2D design data can be transferred to the system using a USB stick, while simple 3D terrain models can be created directly on the panel. Meanwhile the sophisticated Vision 3D system offers comprehensive 3D functionalities. Project data can be transmitted directly from the office to the machine using the internet and the system can work with all common file formats. The Vision 3D package automatically records the GNSS position data of the machine, eliminating the need for time-consuming manual surveying. Automatic position determination increases accuracy and therefore the quality of work processes, saving time and money.
To record the orientation of the machine, Vision 3D is equipped with a second GNSS antenna. External GNSS receivers can also be integrated in Vision 3D.
MOBA says that customers around the world are now buying its sophisticated mobile automation excavation systems are already being deployed in numerous countries. Since June of 2012, the advanced Vision 3D has been put to work at a construction site in New Zealand.

Burkhard Mayer, MOBA sales manager said, "The project model created on a PC was supposed to be transferred to the machine. However, the volume of data was much too large for transmission via an internet connection. We were able to resolve this quickly and easily by means of Telesupport, which is offered for the Vision 3D."
The system can offer 20-30% productivity gains. Louie Schutte, technical manager of the contracting client Synergy Positioning said, "The cost savings are enormous, because laborious preparatory work is eliminated.”
Incorrect excavation is prevented, saving time and money that would otherwise be required for rework. As a result, embankments or projects with numerous incline angles can also be accomplished without any problems. A productivity gain of 20-30% was achieved due to the use of the 3D system, according to Schutte.
