Sakai America is launching its SW754 and SW994 twin drum rollers at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017. These two models are due to go into production at the firm’s Georgia facility in 2018 and have been designed with improved operator comfort, increased working efficiency and ease of maintenance. Both machines meet Tier 4 Final emissions regulations, with a 3.8litre Kubota engine powering the SW754 and a Cummins QSF3.8 diesel in the SW994.

The vibration system on the SW754 offers high frequency rates of 2,500-4,000vpm. A key feature of the SW754 is that it offers both vibration and oscillation on the same drum due to its novel gear driven exciter system. High fuel efficiency in the SW754 is said to allow 10 hours’ operation without refuelling - sufficient for a whole working shift on a single tank. While the wheelbase has been extended, the machine is actually shorter than the model it replaces, allowing two of the units to be loaded onto a trailer for transport, which helps lower haulage costs. Both the SW754 and SW994 have centralised maintenance to reduce downtime and lower operating costs. A key feature of the SW994 is that it is the first double drum roller from the Sakai range fitted with a fully enclosed and air-conditioned cab.
