These concessions will be worth in excess of US$3 billion in the period up to 2016. Peru’s Government wants to continue progress made so far in improving connectivity in the country and also with its neighbours. At present, there are 14 road concessions involving investments of $.58 billion and extending 5,363km.

The MTC’s plan is to ensure that 85% of Peru’s national road network will be surfaced by 2016. This is no mean feat as it equated to 7,270km and involves investments worth $ 11.25 billion, of which$8.2 billion is being provided by government funds and $3 billion is coming from Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). As of 2011, only 52%-53% of roads were surfaced.
