Paraguayan project pushes on

Work on the new Avenida Costanera road in the Paraguayan city of Asuncion is progressing on track.

Work on the new Avenida Costanera road in the Paraguayan city of Asuncion is progressing on track. The 3.8km link is being part funded by a loan from the 2791 Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The project is costing US$125 million. So far the necessary landscaping work has been carried out and work on much of the surfacing is commencing shortly. The 18 month construction project is due for completion in early 2012, according to the 3421 Paraguay Ministry of Public Works (MOPC).

Paraguay plans public projects

Paraguay is planning to launch a series of project tenders during 2014. The country's public works and communications ministry (MOPC) intends to invest some US$700 million in 19 infrastructure road tenders during 2014, according to Business News Americas. Paraguay project proving popular

Interest is strong in Paraguay’s Costanera Sur project. So far six bids have been made to the country’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC). The highway will connect Asuncion with Lambare and the project is expected to cost in the order of US$160 million to build. The work is due to commence in September 2019, taking around 30 months to complete. Contractors from Angola, Brazil and Spain are amongst those making bids, in partnership with local construction companies.
