In Russia’s capital Moscow the finishing touches are being put to a plan to construct the city’s first tolled link. The northern relief road for Kutuzovsky prospect is expected to cost US$1.91 billion to build and will stretch a distance of 10.3km. Once complete the new link will connect Moscow’s business centre with Molodogvardeyskaya junction.

Meanwhile in the Russian city of Tula, some 193km to the south of Moscow, plans are being made to construct a new highway to connect the Zarechesky and Proletarsky districts. Construction of this 8.4km link will cost in the region of $254 million according to estimates. The project includes construction of the highway and a new interchange, as well as eight viaducts, a bridge, and a tunnel. The new stretch will form part of Tula’s Eastern Bypass when it is complete. The route will handle up to 1,000 vehicles/hour at peak periods and maximum permitted speed will be 80km/h.
