Komatsu is upgrading its well-proven HD785 rigid truck

Higher performance is claimed for Komatsu’s Dash 7 version of its well-proven HD785 rigid dump truck, which offers a heaped capacity of 60m3. The 91tonne capacity HD785-7 is matched to Komatsu’s PC1250 and PC2000 excavators, and WA800 and WA900 wheel loaders. The new version of the truck is said to be more powerful than the previous generation machine, with drive from a Komatsu SAA12V140E-3 diesel delivering 1,178kW.

Komatsu is upgrading its proven HD785 quarry truck with a new generation machine
Higher performance is claimed for 2300 Komatsu’s Dash 7 version of its well-proven HD785 rigid dump truck, which offers a heaped capacity of 60m3. Fuel efficiency has been improved due in part to the sophisticated variable power control that matches output to one of four levels to suit the working cycle such as whether the machine is laden or unladen. Top speed is now 65km/h and the advanced transmission has seven forward and two reverse gears, as well as the firm’s sophisticated K-ATOMiCS electronically controlled clutch modulation system. This system controls both the engine and transmission to optimise clutch engagement, while a special skipshift function automatically matches travel speed to the gradient and ensures smooth gear shifting and acceleration. The advanced retarder system improves safety on descents and shares retarding force between all four wheels to reduce tyre-lock and allow smooth downhill travel. In addition, the auto-retard speed control (ARSC) allows pre-selecting a constant downhill speed so the operator can concentrate on steering. Other safety options include an ABS braking system and an automatic spin regulator (ASR) that prevents the rear tyres from slipping on soft ground, improving traction.
