Work is now starting on the first phase of a 348km road construction project in Mozambique to link Nampula with Cuamba. The project is costing US$267 million, with the work being carried out by three international contractors, China Henan International Cooperation Group (2326 CHICO), 2661 China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and Portugal's 3460 Gabriel Couto. The work has received funding of $20 million from the 3457 South Korean Export Import Bank and $60 million from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). In addition, 1586 African Development Bank will also provide funding for the road project, which will take 36 months to complete.
