The organisers of the 1260 bC India 2013 construction equipment exhibition report strong bookings for the event, which is scheduled for 5th-8th February 2013 in Mumbai. The second edition of this event, it is expected to host 700 exhibitors and attract over 30,000 visitors. The show will occupy 130,000m2 of exhibition space at the Bandra Kurla Complex, an increase from the 88,000m2 occupied during the last fair.

According to the show organisers, the event is happening at a time of strong growth in the country. The country is the world’s seventh largest country by area and second biggest by population. This makes it one of the most dynamically growing, but largely untapped construction equipment markets. Huge investments in roads and other infrastructure have paved the way for the construction equipment demand to grow phenomenally. Industry experts predict the market growing even faster for the coming years. From 2010 to 2020 it is estimated to grow six times and will reach up to US$20-25 billion.

The Indian construction equipment industry has been witnessing a consistent double-digit growth over the past few years. Though the economic slowdown had its moderate effects on the industry, it regained momentum in 2010 showing fast growth which is expected to continue. The earth-moving segment, in particular, has been driving the overall construction equipment industry in India, with the strong demand due to government-backed infrastructure projects. The segment is expected to record a compound annual growth rate of around 21% during 2011 to 2015.
