5160 FEHRL, the partnership organisation for national road research centres, has established a new road infrastructure innovation forum. This is intended as a focus for road innovations that can then be developed through FEHRL’s Infravation and related programmes. This portal is not for research proposals but is instead intended to aid in identifying the possible impact, benefits and time to delivery of innovations for road construction and maintenance as well as possible applications for other modes. The Infravation Scoping team says it is keen to hear like to hear about new ideas for promising emerging technologies and innovations in key topic areas. These topics include advanced materials, analysis and testing, construction processes, energy and sensor and communications as well as other ideas for innovation. Infravation is an infrastructure innovation programme supported by 11 countries and the 2465 European Commission. It will issue calls for research projects based on the challenges faced by road owners. These projects will focus on Advanced Systems, Materials and Techniques for road infrastructure. In preparation for this call, a scoping study is examining some of the innovations that might form the basis for the programme.
