Completed in 2011, Delcan, as Engineer of Record, worked collaboratively with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation to complete the replacement of the Bridge. By using what were described as accelerated bridge construction techniques, the Bridge was constructed in only seven weeks, as opposed to several months using conventional construction methods.
Measures to enable rapid construction, such as use of ultra-high performance concrete and fibre reinforced polymer reinforcing, were used as a result of the site conditions, constraints of the surrounding terrain and residential properties. This approach is said to have resulted in a faster, safer and more durable bridge, minimising disruptions to traffic and local residents.
