RSSDavid Goodyear, P.E., S.E., T.Y. Lin International Senior Vice President and Chief Bridge Engineer, has been elected to the prestigious National Academy of Engineering (NAE).

Election to the NAE is regarded as one of the highest and most exclusive professional distinctions that can be awarded an engineer in the United States.

One of only 69 new American members elected from a highly-competitive field of over 500 nominations, Goodyear was cited “for leadership in concrete segmental, cable-stayed, and hybrid bridge design and construction”. His induction into the Academy will take place October 6-7, 2013 at the 2013 NAE Annual Meeting at the National Academy of Sciences Building in Washington, DC.

During his distinguished career of 36 years, Goodyear has been a pioneer in the design of record-setting bridges and new methodologies for bridge construction engineering. He was the Chief Bridge Engineer for the 579m-long Hoover Dam Bypass/Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. The multi award-winning bridge is the highest and longest concrete arch in the Western Hemisphere and the second-highest bridge of any kind in the U.S., featuring the tallest concrete segmental columns of any bridge in the world.

With his 2013 election, Goodyear joins 2404 T. Y. Lin International Chairman of the Board, Dr. Man-Chung Tang (elected in 1995), and Company founder, Dr. T.Y. Lin (elected in 1967), as a member of the NAE.
