AECOM, Arcadis-WSP/PB, CH2M-Fairhurst and Highways England are among the finalists for this year’s Bentley awards for outstanding use of BIM – building information modelling. Ten independent jury panels of industry experts selected the 51 finalists from more than 400 nominations submitted by organisations in more than 50 countries.
Finalists will present their innovative projects to their peers, the jurors, industry thought leaders and more than 120 members of the media as part of related infrastructure forums at the conference to take place at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre. The original bridge is in Westchester across the Hudson River at one of its widest points. But the 27m-wide cantilever structure is pushing 60 years old, well past its 50-year expectancy and carrying around 138,000 vehicles daily.
In 2013, the New York State Thruway Authority and Tappan Zee Constructors started the US$3.9 billion eight-lane bridge, a double-span design of four lanes per span in opposite directions. It’s also designed to take a rapid transit rail line between the two road decks in future without major reinforcing or widening.
