Algeria’s Ministry of Transport is prioritising highway construction work for 2013. In all 13 motorway projects are due for completion in 2013, of which most will be North-South routes. Links from the new East-West highway to the country’s major ports will also be constructed, as well as a number of new roads to provide better connections to towns and villages in the south of the country. The stretch from Constantine-Skikda is due for completion in March 2013, while a 1,200km section connecting Tlemcen with Annaba is expected to open to traffic by mid 2013.
