Abu Dhabi deal due

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport plans to announce the winner of the US$2.7 billion Mafraq-Ghweifat highway project in the fourth quarter of this year. The 5164 Abu Dhabi Department of Transportation plans to announce the winner of the US$2.7 billion Mafraq-Ghweifat highway project in the fourth quarter of this year. The 327km highway will connect Saudi Arabia and the UAE and this project will be the first transport public-private partnership (PPP) project in the region. Bidders include 2661 China Communications Construction Company, Austrian firm 945 Strabag and Australian company 2378 Macquarie. The Department of Transportation says that the project is still undergoing final assessment but once announced, the winner of the tender will have the contract to upgrade, finance, maintain and operate the highway for a 25 year concession period.
