High productivity from Matec’s new filter press

Matec claims high productivity for its Twin Freccia Rossa, the world’s biggest filter press. A prototype of the machine was shown at bauma in Munich, Germany in October 2022. The first full-production, 50m-long, up to 380-plate and 600tonne/hour machine was subsequently snapped up by a Turkish iron ore mining customer. The Italian company says its innovative machine combines the efficiency of two machines into a single product with exceptional performance, offering faster sludge feeding and cake discharge time.

The patented Twin Freccia Rossa is said to reduce customers’ operating costs and allows production to continue during maintenance times. Featuring a single conveyor belt, feeding point, silo decanter, supporting structure, homogeniser tank, high-pressure 10-16-21-30-bar technology, a protective shell for the oleodynamic unit and piston, and four-point cloth washing, the cutting-edge filter press can be equipped with 25mm to 50mm standard or membrane plates.

“All our customers are asking us for two filter presses in one machine,” said Matec Industries CEO Matteo Goich. “We started work on Twin Freccia Rossa around a year ago and the customer who will operate the first full-sized version of this new filter press already has one of our washing plants and six of our filter presses.”

Matec plans to open a new office on the US West Coast by the end of 2023, enabling the company to strengthen longstanding dealer relationships and attract new dealers, widening its reach across North America.

Matec plans new factory for its massive new Twin Freccia Rossa filter press

The new factory is in Mulazzo, in the Italian region of Massa-Carrara, North Tuscany. It will be the sole production facility for the 50-metre long, 600 tonnes per hour Twin Freccia Rossa.

The filter press is designed to combine the efficiency of two machines into a single product, offering faster sludge feeding and cake discharge time.

Matec Industries marketing manager Tatiana Bini said the company is taking on 60-70 new employees to work at the new factory in its offices and workshop.

"We are opening the new factory as we have had a lot of new orders and need to increase production," she added.

Italy-based Matec will now have three manufacturing bases. In addition to the new factory, Matec recently acquired the Alfa Pompe factory in Verona and has a manufacturing facility for small and medium machines at its headquarters in the town of Massa which is also in the Massa-Carrara province.

The Twin Freccia Rossa was first unveiled at the bauma trade show in Munich, Germany in 2022.
